At the Festhalle you will find Helen's world famous and longest running U.S. Oktoberfest, complete with German beer, bratwurst, and the chicken dance. Instead of the old style buildings, they were German style buildings. The history of Helen and the surrounding areas offers a fascinating variety of stories that include some of the earliest native hunters and gatherers in North America as well as some of the most advanced native chiefdoms with monumental architecture and intensive agriculture. The hotel was cute and loved being right on the river. Often referred to as “Alpine Helen,” the town is the third most visited city in the state of Georgia. The town itself only covers about two square miles and has a population of 430 residents. Well, there is the main town square there filled with beautiful streets… and a bunch of shops (and some great bars). The town is quaint and looks like a German town (I haven't been to Germany before, but can imagine maybe it looks similar).
